Lesson #13: Clinical Telepathy Research

Telepathic Cognition Task. This task requires the clinician and the experient to be in separate rooms and requires the clinician to focus on a series of targets while the experient attempts to identify each target in the other room. These tasks can be free-choice, where the experient does not know what the series of targets are, or forced-choice, where the series of targets are known prior to the task and the clinician will then randomly shuffle the targets. Targets can be physical or digital and should be viewed by the clinician one at a time with at least a couple minute delay before selecting the next target. The clinician may signal a new target is being selected to the experient in a number of ways, though the less distracting the better.

Visual targets can include colors (e.g. sheets of colored paper or colored screen shots on a computer), symbols (e.g. Zener Cards) or images (e.g. drawings or photos with simple and common objects such as a flower, a boat, a baby, etc.), or dynamic images (e.g. short video clips) which are assumed to be more cognitively salient than still images, as they mimic real-life telepathy and general experience. Audio targets can include words (e.g. common words or common descriptive adjectives) phrases (e.g. “the early bird gets the worm”), sounds (e.g. birds chirping, ocean waves on a beach, rainfall, etc.), or musical themes (e.g. popular movie theme songs or current popular music clips).

Other types of targets can include olfactive (e.g. fruity smells, perfume, essential oils like lavender, etc.), tactile (e.g. applying warm or cool objects or applying pressure against various parts of the body), and emotional (e.g. utilizing photos to evoke particular emotions such as a snake or large spider for feeling of fear, an image depicting human or animal abuse for anger or disgust, or happy babies, animals, humans, or pleasant nature scenes to evoke feelings of joy, and happiness, etc.).

Telepathic Interaction Task. The aforementioned Telepathic Cognition task can be applied to Telepathic Interaction by having the experient work with the targets (i.e. the sender/ agent) while the clinician takes the role of the receiver.

Telepathic Simulation Task. The aforementioned Telepathic Cognition task can be applied to Telepathic Simulation by shifting the roles of the clinician and the experient. An input task would involve the clinician working with the targets; while and output task would require the experient to work with the targets and the clinician to take the role of the receiver.
