TRANCE MEDIUMSHIP

The forms of mediumship that Type Blacks tend to experience include trance mediumship and channeling, but also include physical mediumship and psychopompic activity. These forms can occur individually or in combination.

The first form, , is like mental mediumship, but with trance mediumship, the experiencer or “medium” is usually sitting or lying down in a deep meditative state.

During these sessions, the medium may speak as though the information they are receiving is being told to them by the entity or spirit.

However, the information is actually coming directly from the entity or spirit, but it is delivered through the medium’s natural voice and behaviors.

During this type of session or sitting, the mediums’ consciousness/spirit/soul/self is believed to be “set aside” within their physical body in order to allow the entities’ or spirits’ consciousness to enter the mediums’ body.

Unlike mental mediumship, this form allows for a more clear and accurate communication between the entity/spirit and those still living who wish to speak to them. In psychic research, we call these living people “sitters.”

Think of it as “taking out the middleman.” This way, there is little room for misunderstanding by the medium because the medium does not have to interpret the information that is received, it just comes out as the entity or spirit intended.

Because this type of communication is so direct and the medium is in a trance state, the medium often remembers little to nothing about what was said by the entity/spirit.

In fact, it seems that the more the medium “surrenders to the experience,” the less they tend to recall. Since trance mediums do not usually recall the information spoken by the entity/spirit, it’s best to have another person to write down, or a form of technology (computer, phone) to record everything that happens or is said during the session.
