:: UAS Enrollment – Recommended Prerequisites

The University of Alternative Studies degree programs are not based in abstract mysticism. Rather, the University applies an array of scientific studies relative to specific psi phenomena to provide a solid educational foundation for students. The University believes that no matter how supernatural psi phenomena may be perceived, we believe they perfectly fit within the laws of nature’s grand design.

Note: Most answers for exams can be found in course content (no external sources required); exam questions in the textbook are the same questions on course exams. All sources are cited for the student if the student wishes to further their understanding of a particular topic during the program, or to further their education post-graduation. In addition, all course assignments are specifically relative to course content.

In regard to degree programs and individual courses in general, there will be topics involving physics, neuroscience, psychology and philosophy.

  • Pertaining to information in the areas of Psychology and Philosophy, the topics are covered in a way that will teach the student what they need to know as to understand course content. However, not all terminology is defined in-depth, and the student may require an external source to fully understand these terms. (Example: Wiktionary or Dictionary.com) Suggested Requirements: Those who have not had courses/classes in psychology or sociology may require an external source for terminology. Those who have not had courses/classes in, or have not read publications in regards to, philosophy may require an external source for terminology. Suggested formal education or equivalent learning in these areas.
  • Pertaining to information in the area of Neuroscience, the topics are also covered in a manner through which the student may not have to seek a better understanding elsewhere. However, not all terminology is defined in-depth, and the student may require an external source to fully understand these terms. There may be some aspects in which the student may be unfamiliar, and should feel inclined to study further, such as brain regions. If at anytime the student feels they need a deeper understanding of a topic, the student is encouraged to seek a source (Example: Wikipedia, journals, or other publications.) Suggested Requirements: No prerequisite is suggested, as the majority of students will find this content unfamiliar. Requirements pertain only to a student’s ability to seek further details on topics as so desired or felt necessary to fully comprehend program content.
  • Pertaining to information in the area of Physics, the topics are covered in a manner through which the student may not have to seek a better understanding elsewhere. Content is non-technical, i.e. does not include any form of mathematics (e.g. equations). Topics covered are explained for both; the intelligent layperson, and professionals in relative fields. Suggested Requirements: Those who have not had at least AP Physics may find this course challenging, but not impossible. The majority of students will find this content somewhat unfamiliar. Therefore, additional requirements pertain to a student’s ability to seek further details on topics as so desired or felt necessary to fully comprehend program content.
