:: Students with Disabilities

UAS is dedicated to providing reasonable testing accommodations for candidates with documented disabilities or health-related needs, as recognized under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Amendments Act. Our e-learning platform supports many assistive technologies such as screen-readers, screen-magnifiers, alternative mouse and key use, disabling of AJAX and Javascript, and more. We treat every request for accommodations on a case-by-case basis to give people with disabilities or health-related needs access to our exams. All exams are timed. Students with disabilities can request extended testing (e.g. 50 percent (time and one-half).

Reasonable accommodations exist to balance opportunities for students with disabilities, not to lower academic standards or to alter the essential nature of the course or program requirements. To that end, accommodations at UAS do not include: (1) reduced standards of academic performance, (2) special courses or programs for students with learning disabilities, (3) evaluation or diagnostic testing of learning disabilities, (4) separate or special tutorial programs for students with disabilities, or (5) waivers of essential academic courses.

If a student chooses to disclose a disability requiring an accommodation, we ask that the student please fill out the form linked below and click the submit button when the form is completed. UAS staff will then inform the course or program professor that the student will require additional time to take exams. The course or program professor will then adjust the student’s account on the e-learning platform to reflect this accommodation.

Students who require other accommodations besides those currently offer by UAS (extended exam time) are required to contact UAS prior to enrollment to make sure we can meet such accommodations.

:: Code of Ethics – The Psychical Oath

“I swear to fulfill, to the best of my ability and judgment, this covenant:

I will respect the hard-earned progress and achievements of experients in whose steps I walk, and gladly share such knowledge as is mine with those who are to follow.

I will apply, for the benefit of life, all measures that are required, avoiding those twin traps of carrying to excess or nihilism.
I will remember that there is art to psychical practice as well as science, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh such practices.

I will not be ashamed to say “I know not,” nor will I fail to call upon my colleagues when the skills of another are needed.

I will respect the privacy of those to whom I practice for or with, for their problems and achievements are not disclosed to me that the world may know. Most especially must I tread with care in matters of life and death. If it is given to me to save a life, all thanks. However, it may also be within my power to take a life; this awesome responsibility must be faced with great humbleness and awareness of my own frailty. Above all, I must not play at God.

I will remember that I am not an individual practicing alone for self-serving proposes, but exist as a function of nature and society with a gift to offer.

I will remember that I remain a member of society, with special obligations to all my fellow beings, those mentally and physically sound, as well as the infirm.

If I do not violate this oath, may I enjoy life, be respected while I live and remembered with affection thereafter. May I always act so as to preserve the finest traditions of my calling and may I long experience the joy of practicing for the benefit of myself and others.”
